HOW TO MAKE MORE ENGAGING INSTAGRAM STORIES
As digital marketing continues to evolve, so does the way that consumers use and interact with it. There are always new tools on the horizon, and it’s important to keep your brand relevant by utilising these platforms, and implementing best practice strategies to remain at the forefront of your industry. Instagram stories are one of these tools that are becoming increasingly more significant and valuable. So if you’re not already, it’s time to get on board the Insta-Story-for-business bandwagon.
WHY?
According to our friends at Facebook, Instagram stories have grown in users from 100 million back in October 2016 to 300 million in November 2017 – that’s approximately 200 million users in just one year! Furthermore, 80% of users follow business accounts and 1/3 of most viewed stories are from businesses. Still not convinced? 50% of businesses produced stories in the last month, so hurry up and don’t get left behind!
HOW?
You want your Insta stories to be engaging and capture your viewer’s attention. With the ever growing popularity of the ‘forward tap’ feature, your window of opportunity to hook a viewer’s attention is limited, so it’s best you do this quick before they get bored and move on.
Here’s how to nail your Insta story game:
- Sound: Never underestimate the importance of a great soundtrack to your ad! Be sure to set the tone of your ad with a track that’s relevant to your content that will immediately capture your audience. Think: Kendrick Lamar probably isn’t the best choice for your elegant jewellery brand
- Colour: Use bright pops of colour that will instantly hook your viewer and entice them to continue watching.
- Speed: Let’s get real, we’ve all read the articles and know that millennials and beyond have the attention span of a ….. wait, what’s that? Use quick moving images and video clip as a creative tool to keep your ad engaging throughout
- CTA: What are you asking the customer to do? Learn more? Shop now? Having the right call to action is key. Make it clear throughout the text in your ad, and be sure to do this in your brand’s tone of voice.
NEED SOME INSPO?
If you’re feeling a bit uninspired, the best thing to do is to hop onto the ’gram and just have a look at what your competitors are or aren’t doing. Locate any niches or recurring themes that resonate with you (and your business!) and get yourself straight into Photoshop to play around.
If creative juices are something foreign to you and you don’t have a graphic designer on board, opt for a template platform like Shakr to get the ball rolling.
